change POSTFIX server HELO string to match the ip

when postfix tries to communicate with other MTA server like google or yahoo, it simply say HELO and mention its name.

the server checks the name of the server and get it’s ip address, the it compares the ip of the domain with the ip from which the request is coming which should be the same to gain message authenticity.

so u will need to add an “A” record on your dns to be something like mailer.example.com then u need to set the below parameters on “/etc/postfix/main.cf” file to match your DNS record.

myhostname = mailer.example.com

enjoy 🙂
